Our Therapy Dog, Rolo

Our therapy dog, Rolo, is part of The Lead School's mission to address the needs of the whole child and to further its trauma-informed mission. According to the National Institutes of Health, having a dog present in the classroom promotes a positive mood, provides significant anti-stress effects on the body and lowers stress hormones. Therefore, just being in contact with a a therapy dog calms kids when they're upset, reduces feelings of anxiety and depression, and enables them to focus on learning.

Younger students like to read to Rolo, and older students enjoy taking him for walks or hanging out in the classroom.
